Positive Aging Program

Alderwood Working Council was awarded funding through the Positive Aging Fund- NS Department of Seniors,  for a Alderwood Community Recreation Project.

The new project promoted an all- inclusive community senior active living program
that helped blend local communities with the Alderwood community.

New activities, workshops and learning opportunities were
introduced and made available to Alderwood residents and seniors living in the
local community.

The Program extended invitations to community seniors to take part in these social, active living, and learning sessions over the past year, 2010-2011.

Seniors were provided access to specialized
programs that weren’t part of the regular recreation program offered at
Alderwood, such as; yoga, basic computer & multimedia programs, intergenerational learning visits, specialized crafts and much more.

Alderwood provided a homey, comfortable, and social setting for seniors taking part in the program.
